As businesses across the board are learning to navigate through the recent pandemic, it's important to create a strategy that works and streamlines efficiencies.

Reinvention is vital right now, and changing your business strategy to support the NEW consumer landscape is key. Many are taking a step back... and devising a new digital strategy - factoring in a new budget and reassessing what makes sense given their current economic situation.

We have created some digital marketing strategies below that may help your business as you navigate through these uncharted waters.

1. Understanding the changing behaviors users are making on the web

Everyone is hunkering down at home, and this means consumers are spending more and more time online. It has been reported that web usage has increased by nearly 20% between January and March of 2020.

When it comes to paid search and online shopping, Google has reported a downward trend on overall conversions and the travel industry has been hit hard. There has been a large uptick in searches for loungewear, pajamas and in home activities across the web like never before.

The most vital of all - social media has become the necessary form of communication for the world like never before. A study conducted by GlobalWebIndex found a 27% increase in social media use among Gen Z, 30% among Millennials, 29% among Gen X and 15% among Boomers.

Facebook has also reported an increase of over 70% and growing daily.

Right now advertising has never been more affordable and people are still online and they are shopping 24/7. This is a comforting fact... but should be a wake up call to businesses that this is the time to meet their consumers’ demands for the goods or services they need. Advertising right now is crucial.

The various platforms we use daily are also learning how to adapt.

2. It's time to talk to your customers in a NEW way

It's time to start some open dialogue about the brand you want to be.

What exactly are you offering your customers and how do they want to see it delivered? This needs to be the new logic.

Many businesses are learning how to adapt to new ways to service their existing clients and help them, this will look different for each industry.

Shifting to an online focus with gym classes, free online training and indoor activity suggestions from various brands has helped them stay relevant during this new and uncharted time. Positive and uplifting messages through email campaigns and advertising campaigns has been a huge focus right now for many delivering great results! It's also important to keep a balance with it however, and not over share on the topic.

3. Shift your advertising budget

Right now lower conversion rates are leading to paused campaigns and your budgets for direct-response channels such as PPC and Facebook are affected.

Creativity is vital and one idea many have had success with is reinvesting your ad budget into channels with longer-term pay-offs.

On Youtube for example... you can gather remote feedback from users, to better understand their needs and how to leverage them as part of a revised messaging strategy.

Take this time to build out your SEO strategy and your Youtube advertising.

4. Look to others around you for inspiration

Who around you is creating a new plan and strategy and adapting to this new "Norm"?

Other companies that are able to are finding ingenious ways of helping in the fight against the virus.

Whatever your industry and your capabilities, staying creative and ensuring brand agility could not only help your business, but also the situation at large.

5. Having the right set of tools at your disposal is KEY

Right now more than ever you need to have a full stack of video and software support at your disposal to help your campaigns and teams perform at their best.

It might be time to invest in automation and various CRM and digital platforms which can support remote team work and collaboration.

A few such as Basecamp, Hubspot, Marketo and Microsoft Teams are our favorite.
